The Basics

What Paint Correction Actually Does

Almost every swirl you can see in direct sun is a fine scratch in the clear coat, put there by washing. Paint correction removes a controlled amount of that clear coat with a machine polisher, taking the scratch down to a level surface. The gloss you get back is the paint reflecting evenly again.

Correction Is Not Polishing For Shine

A glaze or an all in one polish can hide defects for a few washes by filling them. Correction removes them. That is the difference between a car that looks good today and a car that still looks good in six months.

Why Stages Exist

Cutting removes the defect and leaves its own finer marks behind. Refining takes those out. Light paint needs one pass, heavily marked paint needs several, and doing more than the paint needs is not a favour.

There Is A Limit, And It Matters

Clear coat is finite. A responsible correction stops short of taking too much, which means some very deep scratches stay. Jai will tell you which ones are coming out and which ones are not before you commit.

Correction Then Protection

Corrected paint with nothing on it starts collecting the same marks again the first time it is washed badly. Most people put a ceramic coating over the top for exactly that reason.
